SQPN is pleased to announce its special guests for this year’s Catholic New Media Celebration. We are all very excited to have the following individuals as our keynote speakers and breakout presenters!
KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
This year we will have two very special Keynote Speakers joining us in Boston, Fr. Robert Reed and Mr. Lino Rulli.
FATHER ROBERT REED, Director of the ever-growing CatholicTV® Network, promotes the dynamic use of television and new media for effective and entertaining Catholic programming. A priest of the Archdiocese of Boston, Father Reed prepared for the priesthood at the Pontifical North American College in Rome, and studied Broadcast Administration at Boston University’s School of Communication.
LINO RULLI currently produces Lino at Large, a radio program/podcast sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, syndicated on college radio stations, and affiliated with SQPN. He is host of The Catholic Guy radio show airing on The Catholic Channel of Sirius/XM Satellite Radio. Lino Rulli has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and a Master’s Degree in Theology.
BLOGGING TRACK
A new feature of the CNMC this year will be a track dedicated to all those interested in blogging. Our presenters will be noted Catholic bloggers who are eager to share their expertise in creating quality, authentic and inspiring blogs. Our presenters will be Sarah Reinhard, Thomas Peters and Rachel Balducci.
SARAH REINHARD. If Sarah isn’t off hiding somewhere with a good book, chances are she’s chasing a toddler or a dog (or sleeping, because every mom can use a nap!). She enjoys the idiosyncrasies of life in an old farmhouse in central Ohio with her husband and two daughters. She has been blogging at www.SnoringScholar.com since 2006 and contributes regularly at CatholicMom.com, Faith & Family Live, and Today’s Catholic Woman. She can be heard weekly on Catholic Moments and periodically on Faith & Family Live Cast.
THOMAS PETERS is a young Catholic with graduate degrees in theology, who works in Washington DC. He has been seen or heard on: FOX News, CNN, BBC World News, MSNBC, The Catholic Channel, Relevant Radio, EWTN and interviewed or quoted by: Our Sunday Visitor, The Boston Globe, The National Catholic Reporter, Catholic News Agency, The Denver Catholic Register, News Busters, Inside Catholic, Busted Halo, LifeSiteNews, Holy Smoke, Huffington Post, Catholic Online, Catholic Culture, Opposing Views, LifeNews, Catholic Exchange, DC Catholic Living Examiner, National Catholic Register, etc. Since 2005 he has been blogging about important issues facing Catholic Americans. RACHEL BALDUCCI is married to Paul and together they are the parents of five lively boys. Besides being a mom, she is also a writer and a newspaper columnist for the Diocese of Savannah, Georgia. For the past four years, she has maintained her personal blog at Testosterhome.net where she blogs her life with boys, including (but not limited to) swords, army guys, Chuck Norris, and basketball. Rachel is the author of the recently published book, “How Do You Tuck In a Superhero?: And Other Delightful Mysteries of Raising Boys”
PODCASTING TRACK
The Podcasting Track, hosted by Fr. Roderick Vonhögen leading a team of SQPN podcasters, will focus on the necessary elements for creating a high quality and authentically Catholic show. Both instructional and inspirational, this track will conclude with a live recording of SQPN’s flagship program, “The Break with Fr. Roderick.”
FR. RODERICK VONHÖGEN, is a Dutch priest in the Archdiocese of Utrecht. He is the founder and CEO of an international Catholic new media organization, the ‘Star Quest Production Network’ (SQPN). He hosts a number of podcasts, like The Break, Secrets of Harry Potter and the Biggest Loser Fan Podcast. Fr. Roderick also presents a television show about Catholicism in the Netherlands, ‘Katholiek Nederland TV’, and produces a weekly radio column on Radio 5.
CHILDREN’S TRACK
This new family-friendly track led by Allyson Sweeney from SQPN’s Catholic Family show will introduce youngsters to the fun of creating their own podcasts. During the afternoon session, Lisa Mladinich of AmazingCatechists.com will demonstrate children’s catechesis with Bible-based puppet shows and more.
ALLYSON SWEENEY -wife, mom, servant, teacher, catechist, musician, jack of many trades/master of few—Four years ago Allyson and David Sweeney started their podcast, The Catholic Family, to keep an audio journal of their family life and to spread the word of God to listeners everywhere. The Catholic Family focuses on “living life simply within our means.”
Allyson lives in south central Texas with her husband, David, their five children, and lots of pets. She has a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Allyson serves as the music minister of Christ Our Light Catholic Church, has taught first communion preparation classes, and currently teaches confirmation classes with David.
LISA MLADINICH is a Catholic wife and mom, writer and workshop teacher, and the founder of www.AmazingCatechists.com. She hosts the weekly “Amazing Minute” podcast segment on Lisa Hendey’s popular “CatholicMoments” show. Mrs. Mladinich is also the creator of “Paradox Puppets,” a free on-line, catechetical puppet script ministry and the only Catholic ministry of its kind in the world, hosted by Lisa Hendey at CatholicMom.com, with Spanish translations by Maria R. Rivera. Her articles and fiction have appeared in Faith & Family, hearth (now Canticle), Rosebud, Thea News and catholicfire.blogspot.com. She teaches a parish workshop called, “You Can Be An Amazing Catechist…Here’s How,” and is available for media interviews, speaking engagements and consultation on religious education programs for children.
SQPN PODCASTERS

Mac and Katherine Barron, from Swainsboro Georgia, are known the world over for their popular Catholic In A Small Town Show. When not podcasting, Katherine works as a nurse and Mac teaches in the local school system. Mac is also a regular contributor and producer of the Catholic Weekend Show. Katherine and Mac are both members of the SQPN Board of Directors.
Father Seraphim Beshoner, TOR is a friar of the Third Order of St. Francis. He is also an assistant professor of history for the Franciscan University of Steubenville, OH. Father Seraphim produces a weekly podcast on Church history called Catholic: Under the Hood
By day, and sometimes by night, Dr. Paul Camarata works as a surgeon in Overland Park, KS. In his spare time, Paul produces The SaintCast, an entertaining and informative show all about the saints. Paul is a member of the SQPN Board of Directors.
Fr. Jay Finelli, a parish priest of the Diocese of Providence, Rhode Island, is not only a steam train enthusiast and Mac geek, but he produces a wonderfully spiritual podcast, the iPadre Podcast.
A graduate of Franciscan University, Pat Gohn is an accomplished writer and public speaker. Pat brings all her experience working for the Church and women’s causes into her show the Among Women Podcast. Pat doesn’t have to travel far for this year’s CNMC as she hails from North Andover, MA.
From Boston, MA, almost across the street from the CNMC, Zina Gomez-Liss is a long time supporter of SQPN. She and her husband produced the very popular Secrets of Battlestar Galactica.
Lisa Hendey, from Fresno, CA, is one of the best moms we know. Her recently published “Handbook for Catholic Moms,” comes on the heals of her very successful blog site, www.CatholicMom.com. Her weekly interview show on SQPN is CatholicMoments. Lisa is a member of the SQPN Board of Directors.
Maria Johnson, from Conyers, GA, calls herself the ultimate “podsquatter,” but she is actually an integral part of several SQPN productions, including Catholic Weekend and the Secrets of Star Trek. An author and a teacher, you can find several of her published works on lulu.com. She also blogs at http://begojohnson.wordpress.com.
The host of Catholic Rockers , George is a software engineer by day, and was the former bassist for Catholic rock and praise band 1Body.
Steve (Tulsa, OK) started podcasting in 2006 with the On the U – College Catholic Podcast, a show dedicated to young Catholic experiencing life in the Church and on campus. A regular contributor to shows like Catholic Weekend, Secrets of Star Trek, and Secrets of FlashForward, Steve is the executive director of SQPN.
From Roswell, GA, Jeff Nielsen (aka “Captain Jeff”) is an airline pilot and host of his Catholic Pilot Podcast. Jeff is also the producer of SQPN’s Catholic Weekend show. Jeff and his wife Linda are both members of the SQPN Board of Directors.
Nick Padley, also from Overland Park, KS, produces In Between Sundays with his brother Patrick. Nick is a member of the SQPN Board of Trustees and produces or contributes to other SQPN shows such as the Secrets of FlashForward.
A graduate of the University of Tulsa and one of the original contributors to the On the U – College Catholic Podcast, Patrick Padley (Overland Park, KS) and his brother Nick Padley produce the very popular In Between Sundays – a show for young adults. Pat currently works in the film industry and as a social media researcher.
The Sweeney family calls the Austin, TX area home. David and Allyson produce the Catholic Family show, a weekly show about living simply – from a Catholic perspective. From time to time, youngsters in the family produce the Catholic Family Kids show. David Sweeney is a member of the SQPN Board of Directors.
